As any website owner, I get detailed information about visitors coming to my site. This is no secret but a well known fact when you are working in this area. You donít have to worry about it but the information is actually helpful for me. One statistic I get is "TOP search phrases" visitors have used in search engines (like google, yahoo, MSN etc.).

Now here are my TOP 10 search phrases and the answers to it!

TOP 10 search phrases:

01. UPHCleanup, UPHCleanup Download, UPHClean-Setup.msi etc.

The User Profile Hive Cleanup (UPHClean or UPHCleanup) service helps to ensure user sessions are completely terminated when a user logs off. System processes and applications occasionally maintain connections to registry keys in the user profile after a user logs off. In those cases the user session is prevented from completely ending. This can result in problems when using Roaming User Profiles in a server environment

The current version 1.6d can be downloaded at Microsoft web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=1B286E6D-8912-4E18-B570-42470E2F3582&displaylang=en

My advice, install the service on every server that is used with roaming profiles. Also UPHClean works with Windows NT/2000/2003 in ANY language, for a 64-bit version see the UPHClean 2.x beta version.

UPHClean 1.6d is not needed for Windows 2008 or Windows VISTA, since those versions have a Profile service that is doing the same job.

02. Network or dial-up problems are preventing communication with...

This is an unusual error message when you have an issue with Microsoft Terminal Server licensing. When you are using Terminal Server, Terminal Services in application mode with or without Citrix (Add-on) Presentation Server (MetaFrame) you need valid Terminal Services Client Access Licenses (TSCAL) and a running licensing Server (in any way).

Microsoft licensing has its one topic on my website and you find here.

03. Ctx_SMAUser

The Ctx_SMAUser (SMA = Suite Monitoring and Alerting) local account is new with Presentation Server 4.x and generated during the installation. The account is most important and if not created correctly (set in different components like COM+, ICA listener etc.) a lot of things will not work. The Ctx_SMAUser is also the reason why you can't install Presentation Server on an Domain Conroller. Citrix has published several articles that are related to the SMA User, check out the Presentation Server 4.0 site for more details.

04. MSLicensing

Is the name of a registry key where the Terminal Services Client Access Licenses tokens are stored for Clients or for Server licensing parameters.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSLicensing

05. citrix4ge, thomas koetzing, Thomas Kötzing

Congratulations you found me! CITRIX4GE is my alias in the official Citrix Support forum and CITRIX4GE.de is/was my "old" domain that is NOT maintained anymore.

06. Citrix error 10001, Error 10001 etc.

"Installation ended prematurely because of an error" is one the message for the error 10001. Most likely a problem with the language setting or installation order of language packs. See the following Citrix Article about it:

  • Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 and Service Pack 2005.04 for Presentation Server 3.0 Does Not Install on Some Microsoft Windows Operating Systems That are in Languages Other Than English, German, French, Spanish, and Japanese

  • Installation ended prematurely because of an error... when upgrading to Presentation Server 4.0

07. regini

The Microsoft Resource Kit utility "regini" (Registry Change by Script ) is part of Windows since the Windows 2000 release. Regini can change registry keys local or remote and "regdmp" is Microsoft commercial counterpart of regini, for dumping registry keys.

08. hsperfdata

"hsperfdata" is a directory within the user profile that is created by Sun Java. Unfortunally the folder has permissions only set to the current user and even the system or administrator account has no rights to it. To remove the folder the Administrator needs to take ownership and afterwards can set new permissions to be able to delete the folder. Sun claims this first as "By Design" and has now re-opend the case, see Bug ID 5073453.

A workaround is the use of a logoff script with the command:

cacls "%temp%\hsperfdata*" /e /p Everyone:F

09. mfcom, mfcom scripts

MFcom is known as MetaFrame Component Object Model (MF COM). MFcom is a COM server that exposes some of the Presentation Server (MetaFrame) control and monitoring functions. When you are using the Citrix Management Console (CMC) actually under the hood everything is done via MFcom. MFcom can be used within scripts to automate many administrative tasks. In the Citrix Server SDK (Download at http://apps.citrix.com/CDN) MFCom is explained along with some scripting samples. You can find more samples in my script repository or on Citrix Support Knowledge Center (you need to login)

10. hgfs.dat

This file is created in the user profile of the first user who logs on and is part of VMware shared folder feature. This also happens with ESX or GSX Server even those versions do not support shared folders but is installed through the VMware tools. You get problems with this file when using roaming profiles in Virtual Machines. To solve the issue, see VMware solution FAQ1317

ImageNote: When updating the VMware tools, then the made changes as described in FAQ1317 are removed!

Hi,

I do not believe the 10001 error is covered enough, there are some serious problems from error 10001 which Citrix has not covered!
